Days 3, 4 and 5

Skype, Skype Baby!
Day 3: January 3, 2010

One of our New Years goals as a family was to have weekly family calls.  Today we put that into motion.  At 3:00 this afternoon we called Randy's parents & family in Brookings and Matt & Jana in Utah.  It is so fun to be able to chat with everyone and hear what is going on, things we might not get to know if we didn't have Skype.  I absolutely love it.

Bills and Organization
Day 4: January 4, 2010
After much "hinting" on Randy's part, I sat down and did a yearly budget for us.  We are trying to set aside more money for our savings, pay down his student loans and save a little for a few "must have" scrap booking binges!

H20, where did you go?
Day 5: January 5, 2010

This morning we both awoke to find no running water in our apartment.  This meant that when I had taken a shower the night before and let my perm air dry I now looked like a pissed off lion about to pounce and no way of taming the fro.  No water also meant no morning shower for Randy, no way to flush the toilet, no rinsing breakfast dishes and me crossing my fingers really hard that there was no running water at work meaning I could have the day off.  Turns out that I didn't cross them hard enough, the water was only out in our apartment complex.  Since coming home the water has turned back on allowing us to smell a whole lot better!

Project 365

Here goes my goal for the new year.  A while back in a magazine I came across a project that one woman's family did back in the 1950's.  This family documented a week in their life, hairstyles, appliances, activities, etc. in pictures.  Now 60 years later she can look back at all the changes that have taken place and fond memories of the past. I thought, "Wow that is a super idea!"  Along that idea I have also noticed on almost every scrapper's blog they have started a project 365.  This is where you take one picture a day to represent all 365 days in a year.  Print your pictures, throw in some journaling and viola! you have a beautiful ablum that represents your past year.

I've been rolling this project around in my head for some time now and I thought that the beginning of 2010 was a perfect time to start.  So, my goal is to take 365 pictures this year and do a sentence or two of journaling for all the pictures.

So here it goes!

Let's get this party started
Day 1: January 1, 2010
Ringing in the new year!
I'm so excited to see what adventures 2010 holds for us.

Shaped Up and Shipped Out
Day 2: January 2, 2010
This picture just gets me really excited.
I love organization!

We have gone all through the house and started to get rid of the stuff we no longer use.  I love to see our closets and shelves clear and clean.  Besides, Good Will loves us too!

Adventures in Skype

For months I've heard my in-laws talk about how they will Skype with my sister-in-law in Utah so they can all chat and see eachother.  Finally, after buying a new computer and downloading the software, we had our first Skype chat the other night, it was so much fun!

First, we video chatted with Randy's sister Jana and her husband Matt.  That was so fun to be able to see them all the way in Utah!  Jana and I both agreed that we can now scrapbook together even though we are thousands of miles apart..FUN!

Next we started up a three way conference call going with a huge chunk of Randy's family.  We were chatting from Brookings, Eugene and Salt Lake.  The nice and nephew were online talking too and in the sake of entertaining the kids we had to send them a few pictures as we were chatting...wahoo for having a Mac!

As you can see we are all incredibly mature for being in our mid to late twenties!

We had so much fun.  We made a family New Years resolution and set a time so we can all chat with each other every Sunday afternoon.  Now we will all be kept in the loop and know what is going on..SO fun!

Christmas Happenings

Well, it's official, we are done with Christmas.  All the gifs that been made and purchased, wrapped and shipped out to their destinations.  Now we can sit back and enjoy everything.  I's been super cold here the past couple of weeks, nights were mostly in the teens but a few nights were between 4 and 8 degrees.  Day's weren't much warmer, for almost two weeks we didn't get above freezing..BRRRR.  The up-side of the cold weather, I got to pull out all my scarves, gloves and beenies!

Since it was so cold we got a lot done that didn't involve us going outside to much.  We bought a little tree (our first on in 4 years since we usually leave for Christmas).  While the civil war was playing we decorated it.  I put the lights on and some ornaments and started to decorate the rest of the house.  While I was pulling out the rest of the decorations Randy found a red table runner and decided he wanted to decorate the tree too.  Since apparently the tree was cold, it now sports a fashionable tree scarf!

In other super, fantastic news, we are now a proud uncle and aunt again.  On December 9 our niece Addison Hadley was born.  I have to say that I've not YET seen her in person but, she is quite the little mini-me.  Besides all of her black hair, she looks exactly like I did when I was born.  Hopefully we will be able to go visit her in a few months and spoil her rotten!

Hope you all are enjoying the Christmas season too!

A Week in Review

By popular request I've taken a million photos of what we've been up to.  We planned a fun filled Halloween Potluck party for some friends so I quickly wot to work making a spook-tacular invitation.

At the same time I planned a huge lunch birthday pizza party for a co-worker.  So, being the SummerLee that I am, a simple paper invitation or word of mouth simply wouldn't do.  I got out some scrapbooking supplies and scraps of fabric and viola..

Our Halloween potluck ended up being shifted to another friends house because it was his birthday.  And that little potluck turned into a full blown Halloween party complete with 250+ guests, lots of "interesting" costumes and the local Eugene City Police. Randy had a ton of fun once again being... a ninja!

Of course, more events = more scrapbooking pages to come.  The left one talks about my new found love of photography, and the right one tells the story of Randy and the boulder.  I'm so inlove with simple layouts lately.  I'm also enjoying making my own background paper insead of buying patterned paper...Randy's enjoying how it helps our budget too!

We also got to wach the Ducks stop USC (47 to 20) on Saturday's game, got some house cleaning done and made some yummy beef stew and brucheta together.  Now it's on to see what adventures this week holds.

Halloween Fun

I've been super excited for Halloween this year!  For our immediate family I made these super cute Halloween cards.

So I can't take full credit for them since I scrap-lifted the basic idea off of Kristina Werner's fabulous card website.  However, I looked at the idea and created my own pattern and I didn't have the perfect spider web paper so I made my own, so I can take some credit.  The pumpkin is 3-D...super cute.
Happy Halloween everyone!

Christmas Crafts and Applications

What do you get when you add

?

You get a hand made Christmas...duh!  So Randy and I, well mostly me, have decided to try and make most of our Christmas gifts this year.  Since each of our families are going different directions for Christmas this year, some to Wisconsin, some are in Utah and others back in Brookings, I set a goal of having all of our Christmas gifts done by Thanksgiving.  I've been having so much fun crafting, sewing and planning.  So far we have six out of eighteen gifts finished...I've go a lot to do in the next month or so.

While I've been in a creative frenzy, Randy has been busy with graduate school applications.  It looks like the final list of potential schools is University of Washington, Oregon State University, and Arizona State University.  So far I'm pulling for University of Washington, I could see myself in Seattle.  We will hopefully find out by February where we are going!  Cross your fingers.
